Shan Lei International Dance Festival
Jointly presented by Shandong Youth University of Political Science and BeijingDance/LDTX, the first edition of the “Shan Qing Lei Dong International Dance Festival” (AKA Shan Lei Dance Fesitval) is scheduled to take place from July 17 to 22, 2023, at the university. The mission of the Festival is to provide an in-depth platform on promoting international cultural exchange and integration. The Shan Lei Dance Fesitval will therefore invite a renowned international dance group annually to co-work with China’s leading BeijingDance/LDTX to host a series of modern dance classes, seminars and performances.
Following China’s rapid economic development, people pursue for higher and richer life fulfillment by participating more and more in international traveling and economic and cultural exchanges. In the art of dance, modern dance filled with an international outlook that leverages body language as a means of communications & exchanges, and has become more popular and gaining acceptance and fondness among the youth of China.
The first edition of the Shan Qing Lei Dong International Dance Festival has invited one of the most influential dance companies which plays emphasis on both education and performance in Israel, Fresco Dance Company to participate. Yoram KARMI, the company’s artistic director, and his nine professional dancers will station full-time at the Festival to work closely with Willy TSAO, artistic director of BeijingDance/LDTX and its resident artists and dancers, to not only be presenting performance, but also to stay close with the Festival participants on sharing of experience and concepts while teaching professional classes.
During the six-day period, the 2023 Shan Qing Lei Dong International Dance Festival will feature integrated classes, seminars, film screening and performances. It includes 15 workshops of technical class, 10 sessions of film screening, 5 talks of global outlook seminar, 4 showcases of original works by young choreographers from various places of China, as well as the opening and closing performance by China and international top dance companies.
Technique Class
Daily at 9am, 11am and 2pm, a total of 15 workshops to be taught by Israeli Fresco Dance Company and BeijingDance/LDTX’s resident artists and dancers.
Screen Room
Daily at 2pm and 5:30pm, totaling 10 sessions of continuous screening of dance films from latest finalist works provided by the Beijing International Dance Film Festival
Topic Podium
Daily at 4pm, totaling 5 sessions of forum to be presented by artistic director, Willy TSAO, on international outlook on modern dance
New-work Showcase
Daily at 7:30pm in between totaling 4 evenings of short original works by young choreographers from China nationwide
Opening performance
At 7:30pm with the premiere of <Be Water> by BeijingDance/LDTX
Closing performance
At 7:30pm with the performance of latest works <Tatry> by Fresco Dance Company from Israel
The Shan Lei Dance Festival is to be come an exceptionally in-depth, wide-scope and omni-dimensional modern dance exchange festivity. While broadening one’s global outlook, it will further interject energy into enabling the learning and development of modern dance in China.
