Undetermined Domain was created for the Guangdong Modern Dance Company and premiered in 1997. Li Hanzhong and Ma Bo elegantly combine lighting, props, costumes, movement and music to create an insurmountable wall—a wall between self and other, real and imagined, mind and matter. As the barrier builds so too does the dancers’ urgency as they violently attempt to break life’s psychological blockade.
