Li Han-zhong is a native of Yunnan Province. LI Han-zhong graduated with a bachelor degree at the Beijing Dance Academy (Chinese Ethnic Dance) in 1991. Upon graduation, he joined the Guangdong Modern Dance Company as dancer, artistic assistant and choreographer. He toured with the Company to the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Korea, Singapore, and the Philippines. In 1996, he received the Asian Cultural Council Scholarship to study at the American Dance Festival. Li has been invited by many international dance institutions to stage new works, including the Center for the Performance Arts, Adelaide (1998 and 2000), the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Taiwan (1999), and the American Dance Festival’s International Choreographers Showcase (1999). LI joined the Beijing Modern Dance Company as the Deputy Artistic Director in March 1999. In September 2005, LI left the Beijing Modern Dance Company and set up the BeijingDance / LDTX.
His major choreographic works include: “The Sound of Heaven”, “All River Red”, “Undetermined Domain”, “Concerto Rhapsody”, “Big Release”, “The Call of Wild”, “Rear Light”, “The Bed Story”, “The Circle”, “Song of Light & Shadow”, “The Cold Dagger” and “Rehearsal and Performance: At Odds” etc. |
